Grade 3
The grade 3’s will be having their PLANT quiz on Tuesday, November 19th.
Students can bring home their plant booklets to study. Here is a list of things you can talk about with your child:
-What does a plant need to survive?
-What are the basic parts of a plant and their function?
– What is pollination? How do other living things help plants pollinate? Give an example.
-What do plants do to reproduce? (Be able to explain 2 different ways)
-What can plants do to protect themselves from predators?
– Describe a relationship that a plant has with another living thing?
– Name 2 products that come from plants.
– How can humans positively or negatively affect a plant? Give an example to support your answer.
Grade 4
The grade 4’s will be having their HABITAT quiz on Tuesday, November 19th. Students can bring home their orange science duotangs to study. Here is a list of things you can talk about with your child:
– What is a habitat? (in your own words)
– What does a habitat provide living things with?
– What is the difference between a producer and consumer?
– What is a herbivore, omnivore & carnivore? Give an example of each.
– Explain and explain a predator and prey relationship.
– What does the word adaptation mean? Hint – explain it using an example of an animal living in a particular habitat?
-What is the difference between a structural adaptation and a behavioral adaptation? Hint – see handout in duotang.
-What is the difference between an endangered species and an animal that is extinct?
– How can humans positively or negatively affect a habitat? Give examples to support your answer.
