Girls on the Run & Girls on Track are here!
Girls on the Run is a life-changing positive youth development program which combines an interactive curriculum developing self-respect, with training for a non-competitive 5km run/walk. Our school will be running the Girls on the Run program for girls in grades 3 to 5 and the Girls on Track program for girls in grades 6-8. Both programs address many aspects of girls’ development and provide girls with the tools to make positive decisions and to avoid risky adolescent behaviours.
Over a period of ten weeks at W. Erskine Johnston on Tuesday and Friday afternoons from 4:00-5:15 pm girls will participate in an after-school program like no other! Girls on the Run and Girls on Track inspires girls to take charge of their lives and define the future on their own terms. It’s a place where girls learn that they can. No limits. No constraints. Only opportunities to be remarkable.
One girl put it this way: “I know that whatever I set my mind to do, I can do!” Not only do we get girls – and their families – moving, we provide them with important strategies and skills to help them navigate life experiences and challenges, including bullying, gossiping and standing up for themselves for the Girls on the Run program and eating disorders, internet safety, relationships and cyberbullying for the Girls on Track program.
