In Math, we are working through our Patterning unit. Today, students were looking at increasing and decreasing patterns and writing pattern rules to go along with them.
As a class, we wrote increasing and decreasing patterns on the board and then wrote pattern rules to go with it.

Students then had to write their own increasing and decreasing pasterns and pattern rules on a cue card. They needed to write 2 increasing and 2 decreasing patterns. If they did not finish it in class, they are bringing it home to finish tonight.
We have also been looking at repeating patterns and what attributes in the pattern change.
Here is an example:

In the this repeating pattern, the attributes that change are: Shape and Colour.
The pattern for shape is: circle, circle, rectangle
The pattern for Colour is: yellow, yellow, red, red
Students then had to complete pg. 10 #1-4 to practice looking at repeating patterns and at what attributes were changing. If they did not complete this in class, they need to finish it tonight at home.
THANKS!!
