Holiday Party & Class Auction

Image result for snowflakes

Over the past few months the class has been working hard to collect “money”, which they have been adding to and keeping in the Bank of Argue and Dobinson. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed and we will be having our second class auction on Thursday, December 21st. Students will have the opportunity to bid on items. They will need to use their math skills to determine if they have enough money, challenge their peers to bidding wars and subtract the remaining amount 🙂

We will also be having a class Holiday Party on the same day. Students are welcome to bring in treats and/or games to share with the class. If you wish to send your child in with a treat to share, please ensure the item is NUT FREE as we do have an allergy in our class.

Thanks 🙂

Snowsuit Fund – Please Donate

Dear WEJ Families,

We in the WE club are proud to be a part of Snowsuit Fund initiative that was presented at our annual WITS assembly. The Snowsuit Fund provides warm snowsuits and other winter accessories for children who cannot afford them in our community.

From December 4 to December 11, 2017 we will be coming around to all your classes to collect any donations. These clothing pieces, such as scarves, gloves, hats, snowsuits and jackets, can be brand new or lightly used and clean. Please bring items to school for this worthy cause. You can also donate gift cards to Walmart, Carter’s or Mark’s for purchasing new winter wear.

We believe that every kid should be able to go out and play with their friends outside, even when it is cold! With our school’s help, we can help out those in need all around the community.

Thank you,

WE Club

Remembrance Day Ceremony

Today, students from grades 1 – 6 participated in a Remembrance Day Ceremony put on by the English and French students and teachers at WEJ. This past week, our class designed and created a wreath to place at the front of the gym.

Thank you to Alia and Holly for doing such a great job at placing our class wreath!

Also, congratulations to Hannah, Alia and Holly for their performance in today’s ceremony. These girls are members of our school’s Recess Guitar Club and have been practicing in anticipation of today’s events.

We Remember

Strong and Stable Structures

Over the past few months our class has been learning about strong and stable stable structures in science. Today, students had a chance to create their own stable structure using only cue cards and scissors. The challenged was to build the tallest tower possible, while keeping it’s stability. The class came up with different ways to stack the cards and applied the knowledge that a wide base helps to keep structures stable. Everyone had a great time building and rebuilding their towers.

Here are a few pictures from today’s experiment.
